GETTING YOUR CHARACTER STARTED

WHAT IS DRUMSTRANG ACADEMY?
Drumstrang Acdemy is an AU role playing site and is another magical school in the Harry Potter series. To shorten the site name you are free to call it the DA. However, try not to get that confused with Dumbledore's Army.

WHAT IS THE SETTING OF THE SCHOOL
There will be no specific year for Drumstrang but the time frame is around 2040 - 2070 or more.

SO WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL THE CHARACTERS IN HARRY POTTER? INCLUDING VIKTOR KRUM?
Well probably all dead with age or killed in the battle. However, we don't really care about all that as Drumstrang will be an original site with original characters.

I WANT TO JOIN, SO HOW DO I DO THAT?
Easily, look for the link that says, "REGISTER"and you will be on your way to joining the site.

WHO CAN I TALK TO IF I NEED HELP?
I'm sure you can talk to anyone on here, we are very happy to have you and will help you in every way possible. There is also a board for guest & visitors where you can ask any questions about the site. So feel free to post there. The Friendly Area.

MY PROFILE

SO I REGISTERED THE SITE, HOW DO I EDIT MY PROFILE?
Editing your profile can be very difficult if you do not know the right codes to use. If you click on the link View Profile This will take you to your profile. Now for someone who has never role played on a proboards forum would be very confused. Here are a few tips to help you though.

Modifying My Display Name
To change your display name it will be the fourth box down and it will say "Display Name" you are free to change it to your characters Display Name which is whatever your going to call your character. PLEASE NO NICKNAMES, WE WANT YOUR FULL CHARACTER NAME!

I'M HAVING TROUBLE COMING UP WITH A NAME HELP!
Well if you are having trouble coming up with a name you can click on the wanted faces to see what characters people are needing for their plot. Or if you want your own original character you can go to google and search for baby names or name generator. It truly helps and they come up with some funky names.

WHERE CAN I GET GRAPHICS FOR MY PROFILE?!?
Well there are muitlple places to get your graphics, we will have a graphics center on the site so you can request a graphic from someone. However, if for some reason you do not want to request on here and want to make your own you can download a Photoshop trial from Adobe.com or you can download GIMP which is a similar and smaller version of Photoshop plus it is definitely free. Also there are a ton of resource sites out there where you can request a graphic as well. One of them being CAUTION 2.0 and thousands more!

Also we will be making graphics for the site where you can place them in your signature as well.

HOW DO I EDIT MY SIGNATURE/ICON?
Now to those new to proboards, here are some simple codes for putting your graphics in your signature.

That's the image code which enables an image to show up on the site.

[center]Put Text Here. [/center]
That center's an image or it can center text as well, (you can also use left & right as well.

[b]Put Text Here. [/b]

[url=putlinkhere]put link here[/url]
That makes a link with a special name for it.

SO I HAVE MY SIGNATURE SET, HOW DO I ADD AN ICON?
It's about the 10th box down and it will say Avatar. Now you can use the list provided by proobards or you can find one for yourself. Google to is another good source but so is CAUTION 2.0 Once you have found an icon all you do is you put the link in the text box marked "Avatar URL" now you do not have to set the width & height it can do that for you. PLEASE REMEMBER TO FOLLOW THE GRAPHIC RULES ON THE SITE!

HOW DO I HOST MY OWN IMAGES?
Well you can go to PHOTOBUCKET to upload your own images, however, I truly suggest to usetinypic.combecause they use a smaller URL and it won't take up as much a space in the signature. Or you could also use TINYURL.com Which will shorten the URL of the Photobucket link. Photobucket is easily a good place to store your images so you don't lost them.

WHAT'S A CELEB-LOOK-A-LIKE?
Well simply put, since we can't use our own faces on here for several reason. (You can it's just better if you don't since you don't know who you are talking to on here, aka Safer) You actually must claim a celebrity look-a-like so we know how to picture your character. This is where the celebrity face claim is. Now we will have a canon list here for the Markovic family tree and if you want to be a Markovic (like me. :] ) you can look through there to find that as well.

DEVELOPING YOUR CHARACTER

HOW DO I GET SORTED?

You will go here to the sorting ceremony and you can be put in one of four houses of Drumstrang.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET SORTED?

It honestly just depends on how busy the admins are, however, I the headmaster normally sort people right away. It just depends on how busy everyone is so try to be patient I know it can be frustrating.

THE SORTING IS TAKING TO LONG WHAT DO I DO?

There could be something wrong with your sorting application. If your application has been deleted then there is definitely something wrong with it. Please do not ask about it or PM anyone about the sorting application. Just make sure to double check that you did everything correctly before posting it.

I DON'T WANT TO BE A FIRST YEAR. CAN I MOVE UP?

Yes you can. However, there is a specific application for year bumps. They all require a different role playing skill so make sure that you are prepared for the applications.

HOW DO I DEVELOP MY CHARACTER WITH RELATIONSHIPS?

You can go to the develop your character area and you can plan out different plots with fellow members of the site. It'll help you grow your character more.

CAN I BE A ADULT INSTEAD OF A STUNDET?

Yes you certainly can; however, there is a different application for adults so please be careuful of the applications.

I'VE NEVER USED A PROBOARDS SITE I NEED HELP WITH CODEING!

You can go find a list of coding help in this post and it will help you with all your coding help and needs. However, if you are still confused you can ask an Admin/HM/DH about it.

When you go to a certain board there will be images on the top part of the board click here to see the image and it will take you to this page..
